Bird box

Watercolour on wood.

This has got to be the longest I've taken to complete a project, it kept being put on hold due to college, I started it about two years ago.

The original box was a cheap pale pine thing from The Works. I soaked it in a big pot of really strong coffee for a few days, actually left it too long and the coffee went mouldy on the surface, I was hoping the wood would come out darker. The glue holding it together fell off though and the wood warped so I had to carefully re-glue it and trim the edges of each panel, it took forever to get the pieces to fit together.

Only got around to painting it a few days ago, the idea for it's been there since I bought the box. I'm mostly happy with it but I wish the wood and the colour of the bird/branch wasn't so similar. More contrast would have been nice.
